I love to drive with Metallica and Radiohead in my CD player,’ Olivia says.
Metallica and Radiohead! Good grief! What a combo! I keep my thoughts to myself.

This is a fun medical thriller with a pretty cool premise. The detective and story’s heroine was formerly studying medicine when she decided her talents could best be applied to investigating cases steeped in science and going after characters that had the technical savvy to get around most detectives, just not someone with her background. She gets drawn into a murder occurring on the oncology wing and what she discovers there leads to still more intrigue and corruption surrounding fake medications and those profiting by them. Fans of Robin Cook should enjoy this book. The pacing isn’t as brisk, or the thriller part as scary and as knuckle-biting, but the characters are every bit as likable, and the mystery is well done. This makes an excellent kickoff novel for a series based on a pretty cool character, and it is written in a niche that is refreshing compared to the bulk of mysteries being written these days. To me, the science angle makes this one all the more topical and relevant to an age that is increasingly defined by breakthroughs in medicine and in all fields of science.

Green Monkeys A CC Ingram Mystery edition by Nalini Warriar Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This is an intriguing mystery to read. The book is very well-written, and I liked the main character at once because she is portrayed as a strong, decisive, and clever person whose actions are realistic and show a consistency of character. What I liked most about this book is that I could visualize what I read, so I really felt part of the chase. The ending was interesting in that it made me think of humanity's flaws in general, well beyond the issue of the mystery to solve.

As usual I will give my honest review on this book as I do with all my reviews. Unfortunately, this book didn't really connect with me and neither did the main character C.C. Her dad, Olivia and some of the other characters I quite enjoyed reading but not the main one. I struggled with the beginning until about the middle. The middle of the book did start getting better with more action and less scientific language. Unfortunately, again, towards the end it started going downhill again. It is a good storyline and may be off interest to other readers but it wasn't to myself. The writing style was OK but for me there was just too much scientific language where I blanked out a bit. I have given the book 2.5/5 which I've marked as a 3 as you can't give half ratings and I don't think it deserved a 2. I wish the author the best of luck and apologise that there isn't a lot of positives in my review but I will always write honest reviews. x
